WindSync quintet has established itself as a vibrant chamber ensemble performing wind quintet masterworks, adapting beloved music to their instrumentation, and championing new works by today's composers. The quintet
eliminates the "fourth wall" between musicians and audience by often performing from memory, creating an intimate connection. This personal performance style, combined with the ensemble's three-pronged mission of
artistry, education, and community-building, lends WindSync its reputation as "a group of virtuosos who are also wonderful people, too" (Alison Young, Classical MPR).

Mirror Visions Ensemble
Saturday April 15, 2023 at 3:30pm
Wilshire Avenue Community Church
212 E. Wilshire Ave., Fullerton, CA.
Mirror Visions Ensemble (MVE) was founded from a desire to explore the relationship between music and text, initially through the creation of "mirror visions" - settings of the same text to music by different composers. The group's passion for storytelling has produced thematic concerts on surprising subjects, based on scholarly research and laced with humor, leading to the revitalization of art song programming. Featuring soprano, tenor, baritone and piano, often joined by other instrumentalists, MVE's programs take audiences on an imaginative journey through song, showcasing both well-known and oft-neglected pieces, set to texts by poets and historical figures.
Program
The sun has set, the gloaming has gone, and stillness has settled in. As the clock strikes twelve, something mystical begins to stir...the night brings a wonder all its own. Mirror Visions Ensemble's Midnight Magic reflects upon the witching hour as musical favorites by Mozart, Debussy, and Price intermingle with Bonds, Sondheim, and more. Four stunning voices (soprano Mireille Asselin, mezzo Abi Levis, tenor Daniel McGrew, and baritone Mischa Bouvier) are alongside pianist Max Hammond. Live premiere performances of commissioned works feature Carlos Simon's "Dreams" and Andrew Gerle's arrangement of "That Old Black Magic."
Mireille Asselin, Soprano;
Mischa Bouvier, Baritone;
